WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H made Nick Aldis versus GUNTHER official for SummerSlam during the event's kickoff show on July 19.
The announcement followed a confrontation on the SummerSlam Kickoff broadcast. GUNTHER approached Triple H to complain about Aldis interfering in his match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Aldis then appeared, leading to a brief brawl that officials quickly halted.
Triple H declared the match on the spot. He stated, “Enough, we’ve seen enough! You guys want to fight? You’ve asked for it, now you’ve got it. This is WWE, we get in the ring to settle our differences. At SummerSlam it will be the Ring General, GUNTHER, versus Nick Aldis.”
SummerSlam is scheduled for August 1 and 2 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The bout will mark Aldis’s first WWE match and his first appearance in the ring since October 2023.
