Älvdalen

Two prominent politicians in Älvdalen, one from the Moderates and one from the Social Democrats, have left their parties to join the Left Party ahead of the autumn municipal election. The move strengthens the Left Party locally. Dissatisfaction over the treatment of the northern districts Särna and Idre prompted the switch.

Police in northern Dalarna are increasing snowmobile checks during Easter, but officers in Idre say they should have conducted more this winter. On Wednesday, 20 vehicles were checked in Grövelsjön and Drevdagen with no violations noted. Lena Nilsson, community police officer in Älvdalen, cites staffing shortages as a barrier.
