Police in northern Dalarna are increasing snowmobile checks during Easter, but officers in Idre say they should have conducted more this winter. On Wednesday, 20 vehicles were checked in Grövelsjön and Drevdagen with no violations noted. Lena Nilsson, community police officer in Älvdalen, cites staffing shortages as a barrier.
Police in northern Dalarna are focusing extra efforts on snowmobile checks during the Easter holiday, particularly in areas like Sälen and Idre. On Wednesday, police collaborated with Tullverket and Länsstyrelsen for inspections in Grövelsjön and Drevdagen. A total of 20 vehicles were stopped, but no violations were recorded.
Lena Nilsson, community police officer in Älvdalen and based in Idre, wishes for more checks earlier in the winter. "We should have been out more times this winter," she says. Nilsson attributes limitations to staffing shortages and other duties.
Josefin Olander, 16, who recently obtained her off-road driving license, was among those checked. "It's good that they are out checking," she comments positively.
Polismyndigheten plans expanded checks in the Sälen and Idre areas over Easter to ensure compliance.
