Scientists at University College London and Great Ormond Street Hospital have developed a base-edited therapy called BE-CAR7 that uses universal CAR T-cells to treat relapsed or refractory T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Early trial results published in the New England Journal of Medicine and presented at the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting indicate deep remissions in most patients, including those who did not respond to standard treatments, by tackling long-standing challenges in T-cell–based therapies.

A comprehensive scientific review has concluded that taking acetaminophen, known as Tylenol, during pregnancy does not increase the risk of autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability in children. Led by researchers at City St George's, University of London, the study analyzed 43 high-quality studies, including sibling comparisons to isolate medication effects from genetic and environmental factors. The findings, published on January 16, 2026, in The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Women's Health, address earlier concerns sparked by less robust research.

Researchers urge parents to consult professionals for balanced plant-based nutrition.
