A 70-year-old woman was shot three times in the back while walking near a bus stop in Orlando, Florida. Authorities have charged 27-year-old Kevin Millares with attempted first-degree murder in the attack.
The shooting occurred on the morning of July 4 near the 1000 block of Egan Drive. The victim told officers she was on her daily neighborhood walk when an unfamiliar man approached and fired three shots into her back without speaking.
A witness saw the shirtless suspect in black shorts and followed him after retrieving his own gun. The witness reported seeing the man shoot the woman three times before fleeing the scene.
Deputies recovered a matching bullet and clothing at a residence linked to Millares. He was arrested and pleaded not guilty during a court appearance on Thursday.
Millares is scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday.
