Florida man charged with first-degree murder in shop shooting

Robert Worthington, 44, faces first-degree murder charges after allegedly shooting Craig Beeth, 50, at an auto shop in Pinellas Park, Florida. The incident occurred on Friday following a series of disturbing text messages.

Worthington was going through a mental health crisis when he sent texts to a friend early Friday morning. Messages included statements such as “I'm going crazy” and “I just got back here to get my gun,” along with admissions of feeling “homicidal and suicidal.” The friend persuaded Worthington to come to the auto shop on the 6600 block of 69th Avenue North to calm him down. Hours later, the friend heard a gunshot, found Beeth on the floor, and called police. Surveillance footage reportedly showed Worthington pointing a gun at Beeth, who tried to retreat, before firing. Beeth was pronounced dead at the scene. Worthington left before officers arrived and was arrested the next day. He appeared in court this week, with his next appearance date still unclear.
