Morena's Senate coordinator, Adán Augusto López Hernández, distributed over 17,000 copies of the book 'Grandeza', written by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to the offices of about 67 to 69 senators from his party. The distribution took place in the Senate hallways, where hundreds of white boxes were seen, each containing 20 books and a card reading: “With kind regards from Adán Augusto López Hernández, Senator of the Republic”. Each legislator received between 10 and 20 boxes.
López Hernández dressed as Santa Claus to advance Christmas and described the gift as a gesture to his colleagues, comparing it to Mexican traditions of gifting leg or turkey. When questioned about the funds' origin, he insisted: “They are my own resources”, denying the use of Senate or Morena Parliamentary Group money. He estimated acquiring about 10,000 books, though the total distributed exceeded that, and has not yet calculated the exact cost. According to Editorial Planeta's website, each copy costs 448 pesos, representing over 5.5 million pesos; some senators mentioned 600 pesos, raising the estimate to about 7.6 million.
The book 'Grandeza' was presented by López Obrador on November 30, 2025, via video from his ranch in Palenque, Chiapas. In it, the former president reclaims the legacy of ancient Mexico's indigenous peoples and questions the official Conquest narrative, exalting their cultural greatness. López Obrador reiterated his retirement from politics to focus on writing, though he mentioned conditions for a possible return: defending democracy, backing President Claudia Sheinbaum against a coup, or protecting national sovereignty. The work saw high demand at the Guadalajara International Book Fair.
Senators like Eugenio Segura, who received 10 boxes to distribute in Quintana Roo, saw it as support for López Obrador, Sheinbaum, and the movement. “It is support for President López Obrador, support for our President Claudia Sheinbaum, and support for our movement”, he declared. Manuel Huerta Ladrón de Guevara praised the content: “I've started reading it and I think it's content that will cause a lot of buzz in communities”. The boxes were delivered to offices of Andrea Chávez, Julieta Ramírez Padilla, Alejandra Berenice Arias Trevilla, Javier Corral, Aníbal Ostoa, Luis Fernando Salazar, and Félix Salgado Macedonio, among others.
