Anders Larsson, who has chaired the Swedish Ice Hockey Association since 2015, is weighing a candidacy for the presidency of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). He already serves on the IIHF board, and the position will open after Luc Tardif steps down. The Swedish federation's board is reviewing the option ahead of a June 1 deadline.
The Swedish Ice Hockey Association faces significant transitions, with Larsson potentially the latest high-profile departure. Larsson told TT that a group within the federation is examining the possibility, including a vice-presidential bid from Europe. 'We have quite a bit of time, as any candidacy must be submitted by June 1,' he said. The IIHF election is set for October, and success would require Larsson to relinquish his current role. Larsson remained noncommittal to Expressen, stating, 'I haven't really thought about it; we'll have an internal discussion. Right now, I'm not closing any doors, but I'm not opening any either.'
