Bodybuilder and digital influencer Gabriel Ganley, 22, was found dead in his Mooca apartment in São Paulo on Saturday (23). The death certificate lists hypertrophic cardiomyopathy as the cause of sudden death.
Civil Police are investigating the case at the 57th precinct (Parque da Mooca) and interviewing witnesses to confirm the death was natural. Building CCTV footage is being reviewed, and the Medical Legal Institute reports are still pending. Medications possibly anabolic steroids were found in the apartment, according to the occurrence report.
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is mainly caused by genetic factors, but anabolic steroid use can heighten the risk by overloading the heart muscle, said cardiologist Jorge Zarur. Doctor Raffael Fraga of Dasa noted that the condition is the leading cause of sudden death in athletes and that tests like echocardiograms aid early detection.
Sponsor Integralmedica mourned the loss and praised his charisma and influence. Gabriel's mother, Clarisse Ganley, called it a fatality and sought mutual support among family and friends.
