Brooks Koepka pulled out of the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday morning due to a hand injury, just days before defending his U.S. Open title at Shinnecock Hills.
Koepka was 6 under and tied for 34th when he withdrew before his final round at TPC Toronto. He had been dealing with numbness and grip issues in his ring finger and pinkie during the third round.
"Yeah, I don’t know what it is," Koepka said Saturday. "I’m struggling to grip the club with my ring finger and pinkie finger."
The five-time major winner had shown improving form with six top-25 finishes in his previous eight starts. His status for the U.S. Open, set to begin in five days in Southampton, N.Y., remains unclear.
Koepka won the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills by one stroke over Tommy Fleetwood.
