The Soins de vie collective has written to the prime minister requesting an urgent audience on the end-of-life law. Health professionals opposed to euthanasia and assisted suicide say they have been sidelined from the drafting process.
On 26 May 2026, the Soins de vie collective sent a letter to Sébastien Lecornu. The signatories, health professionals opposed to euthanasia and assisted suicide, request an urgent audience.
They note that the prime minister has never spoken on the reform sought by Emmanuel Macron. Upon his appointment, Lecornu stated that “this law is not mine”.
The caregivers feel they have been “kept out of the drafting of a text that concerns them directly”. The fate of the reform will be decided in the coming weeks.
