The Government of Mexico City reached an agreement with transport organizations to raise fares for concessioned public transport on Ruta and Corredor routes by 1.50 pesos, effective from November 1, 2025. The adjustment addresses demands to match prices in the State of Mexico and cover operating costs, without impacting systems like the Metrobús. Transport operators commit to enhancements in safety and service quality.
Following work sessions between the Secretariat of Mobility (Semovi), the Secretariat of Government (Secgob), and the Secretariat of Administration and Finance (SAF) with representatives of concessioned transport, the Government of Mexico City authorized a 1.50 peso increase in fares for public Ruta and Corredor services. The agreement was published in the Official Gazette on October 31, 2025, making the new fare effective from November 1.
The adjustment stems from recent protests by transport operators, who demanded alignment with the State of Mexico, where fares rose to 14 pesos this month, claiming previous rates of 6 to 8 pesos failed to cover fuel and maintenance costs. It marks the first increase in a year, balancing the sector's economic viability without neglecting users.
New fares are: microbuses and vans, 7.50 pesos for the first 5 km, 8 pesos from 5 to 12 km, and 9 pesos over 12 km; buses, 8.50 pesos for the first 5 km and 9.50 pesos from 5 to 12 km; corridors, 9.50 pesos. The nocturnal fare, from 23:00 to 6:00, rises 20% above daytime rates. It does not apply to Metrobús, Trolleybus, Cablebús, RTP, or Metro.
In exchange, operators must meet requirements overseen by Semovi and Invea: display valid Type C driver's license visibly, remove polarized window tint, maintain civil liability insurance, show license plate on the vehicle, wear uniforms (dark pants and white shirt), conduct periodic safety checks (lights, brakes, GPS, cameras), and train operators. “Se autoriza la actualización de las tarifas aplicables al Servicio de Transporte de Pasajeros Público Colectivo de Ruta y Corredor, en un máximo de $1.50 (...) Los concesionarios y permisionarios deberán exhibir permanentemente en lugar visible de sus vehículos, terminales y bases, la tarifa autorizada” states the agreement.
