New aerial images show ongoing work at the Cars-themed Piston Peak expansion in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Sand placement suggests preparation for water features that were lost when Rivers of America was drained.
Photos taken by @bioreconstruct display sand between the existing Frontierland grade and the Piston Peak retaining wall. A nearby bridge appears positioned above what could become a body of water.
The expansion will include two new rides. Concept art previously released by Disney showed a waterfall running through much of the land.
Disney has not announced an opening date. Construction continues alongside other park updates, including reopened attractions in Tomorrowland and Frontierland.
