One student was released after being cleared in the Utumishi Girls High School fire case while eight others had their detention extended.
Chief Magistrate Abdulqadir Ramadhan Lorot ordered the release of one suspect on June 24 after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions confirmed that investigations had established she was not culpable.
The ODPP stated that the court directed she be handed over to her parents. Eight other suspects remain in custody with their detention extended by two days ahead of formal arraignment.
The eight are expected to appear in court on June 26 to take a plea on 16 counts of murder related to the May 28 fire. They will be remanded at either the Nakuru or Nairobi Children's Remand Home.
