The Limeira court converted the arrest of three men to preventive detention after the death of 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas during a rope jump without a cord at Ponte do Esqueleto.
The three suspects, Maicon Fernandes Cintra, 42, Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff, 32, and Vitor de Freitas Gonçalves, 27, face charges of homicide with eventual dolus. The conversion occurred Sunday morning (14/6) during a custody hearing via videoconference.
The young woman died on Saturday (13/6) after falling about 40 meters. She was thrown from the structure without safety equipment properly fixed, according to images and the police report. Death was confirmed at the scene by a SAMU team.
Ponte do Esqueleto belongs to federal heritage. The Superintendence of Union Heritage had requested access blockage after a cyclist’s death in April 2024, but the structure was later reopened.
