The Chicago Cubs extended their losing streak to eight games with an 8-5 defeat to the Houston Astros on Sunday. The team also placed starter Edward Cabrera on the 15-day injured list with a blister on his right middle finger.
Chicago held a slim lead until the fifth inning, when the Astros erupted for five runs. Christian Walker hit his 14th home run of the season during the outburst. Starter Shota Imanaga allowed seven runs over six innings, raising his ERA from 3.38 to 4.04. The Cubs are now 29-24 and trail the Milwaukee Brewers by 2 1/2 games in the National League Central.
