Didier Deschamps, back on Sunday after the 4-6 defeat against England on Saturday in Miami, dined with Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée. The president invited the coach and his staff for a debriefing, according to information from Le Figaro.
Emmanuel Macron had already visited Clairefontaine in early June before the Bleus departed for the United States. Due to the results, no traditional reception at the Élysée was held this year.
At 57, Deschamps thus closes a fourteen-year period marked by a world title in 2018. Zinédine Zidane’s succession is expected to be made official by the end of the month.
