A discussion meeting took place in Gilgel Beles town of Benishangul Gumuz region to strengthen cooperation between the mineral resources and agriculture sectors.
Ato Tujane Adem, head of the regional mineral resources development bureau, told the meeting that untapped mineral potential exists in various areas of the region. He said the government is working with focus to develop and utilize this resource through modern methods.
Ato Tujane Adem also explained that a committee has been established and is working to prevent illegal activities in the sector. Officials from the regional agriculture bureau noted that reform works in agriculture have yielded concrete results and stressed the need for coordinated efforts to ensure food sovereignty.
Ato Melesse Kiwi, chief administrator of Metekel zone, underlined that establishing an integrated agricultural system and ensuring farmers' benefits are necessary to achieve food sovereignty goals.
