Mexican actor Eduardo Manzano, known as 'El Polivoz' and for his role in 'Una Familia de Diez,' passed away on December 4 at age 87 from a respiratory arrest. His son confirmed the peaceful death in a hospital. Colleague Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo shared insights into his final days.
Eduardo Manzano Jr. revealed that his father died at 11:45 PM on December 4 in a hospital, following an intestinal complication that led to his admission. 'My father passed away at 11:45 PM yesterday, December 4, in a hospital,' the son explained to the media. He added that the death was serene: '(He had) the death of a king, he passed away asleep in a hospital guarded by doctors.' The official cause was a respiratory arrest, a condition where breathing stops, potentially fatal according to medical sources like MedlinePlus.
Manzano, 87, was recognized for his character Arnulfo López in 'Una Familia de Diez' and as co-founder of Los Polivoces with Enrique Cuenca. His son emphasized that, despite the inevitability, 'one is never prepared for the real event.' Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, who attended the funeral, described the actor's health decline for at least six months, requiring total assistance from his wife. 'Lalo had many illnesses, he was unwell,' said Ortiz de Pinedo, referring to an intestinal complication that prevented surgery. 'The doctors said he wouldn't make it, that he was very ill.'
Ortiz de Pinedo, also awaiting a lung transplant due to myelodysplasia, used the occasion to share his own health: he has lost 15 kilos through a strict diet recommended by doctors to prepare for the procedure in Mexico, encouraging organ donation.
