Racing journalists have offered their selections for the Betfred Derby, scheduled for 4pm today at Epsom Downs.
The one-mile four-furlong Classic features 14 runners and carries a prize of £2,000,000. Aidan O’Brien sends four horses, including ante-post favourite Benvenuto Cellini with Ryan Moore aboard. The trainer has 11 previous Derby wins. Other selections include James J Braddock from Joseph O’Brien, Ancient Egypt from Charlie Johnston, and Maltese Cross from William Haggas. Several tipsters highlighted sons of Frankel in the field. The Betfred Derby Festival runs through today at Epsom Downs, with live coverage on ITV Racing.
