Facebook group Singelfredag 2.0 gains over 61,000 members

The Facebook group Singelfredag 2.0, created for singles seeking love and friendship, has grown to over 61,000 members in nine months. It offers member presentations, connections, and events across Swedish cities. Co-founder Yasmine says it feels safer than dating apps.

The Facebook group Singelfredag 2.0 launched nine months ago to help people find love and friends. It has quickly surpassed 61,000 members, peaking on Saturdays with thousands interacting.

Co-founder Yasmine attributes the growth to a strong need for real connections. "Here you can check out the person a bit," she says, noting the rule that accounts must be over a year old for approval. The group serves as a forum for dating posts and hosts events in cities across Sweden.

Member Anna Örnekull, single for four years, has used it to meet friends and potential partners. "You have to be a bit brave and dare," she says after spending a pleasant weekend with a man from the group, who is now a good friend.

Aftonbladet recently hosted a Singelfredags chat where participants Titti and Chris showed chemistry, prompting the newsroom to offer to connect them. Several members report successful meetings through the group.
