Halo fans have voiced strong criticism of the redesigned ring structure shown in footage from the remake Halo: Campaign Evolved. The visuals, released by Halo Studios as a tribute to the original game, have drawn complaints about excessive detail and altered proportions.
The backlash emerged after Halo Studios posted a six-hour video featuring the original theme music alongside new footage of the spinning ring. Viewers noted that the added mechanical details make the structure appear less vast and mysterious than in the 2001 original.
Many pointed to the visible depth and interlocking metal pieces as making the ring look more like a bridge or elaborate jewelry. Concept artist Master Gekko argued that the design fails to account for reduced depth and parallax at such a massive scale.
The ring's exterior rarely appears in gameplay, limiting the issue's impact on the overall project. Still, some worry the style could carry forward to future entries in the series.
