A 59-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly driving toward children playing on a sidewalk in Cocoa and making threatening statements to their mother.
The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on June 7 at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Rosa L. Jones Drive. Four children escaped unharmed as Pamela Dresser drove her car in their direction, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Dresser, who yelled a racial epithet during the event, later told officers she had used the children as "target practice." She also admitted to the mother that she tried to run over the children before claiming the remark was a joke and that she had made a wide turn to avoid a cart.
Dresser faces an enhanced count of aggravated assault, four counts of child abuse without great bodily harm, and two counts of threatening a public servant. She remains in the Brevard County Jail on a $250,000 bond, with her next court date set for July 2.
