Indonesia's Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has emphasized the country's readiness to lead the development of a high-integrity carbon market to support green economic growth. This was stated during the High-Level Breakfast Roundtable at the Sustainable Business COP30 (SBCOP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Raja Juli attended to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in developing a high-integrity voluntary carbon market ecosystem. He ensured that the carbon market development aligns with the highest global standards. "This collaboration reflects our determination to ensure that Indonesia's carbon market is built on the foundation of trust, integrity, and national sovereignty," Raja Juli told reporters.

He also highlighted Indonesia's vast tropical rainforests as the world's lungs and a center for credible carbon economy transition. "Indonesia's vast tropical rainforests not only serve as the world's lungs but also become the world's transition center to a credible and fair carbon economy. By aligning with global integrity standards, Indonesia is building the foundation for a transparent, science-based carbon market ecosystem that benefits local communities and indigenous peoples," he said.

In the background, President Prabowo Subianto issued Presidential Regulation No. 110 of 2025 on Carbon Economic Value and National Greenhouse Gas Emission Control. This regulation strengthens the legal basis for carbon market management in Indonesia.

CEO of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM), Amy Merrill, expressed appreciation for Indonesia's steps. "Indonesia has taken positive steps toward the carbon market and de-carbonization financing. This collaboration serves as an example of harmonizing national policies and global standards to achieve real climate impacts. ICVCM is pleased to support Indonesia's Ministry of Forestry in aligning Indonesian forestry carbon credits with high-integrity Core Carbon Principles," she said.
