George Russell finished second at the British Grand Prix but said he did not deserve the result. The Mercedes driver benefited from team strategy during a safety car at Silverstone.
Russell secured his first home podium on Sunday yet expressed dissatisfaction with his pace compared to team-mate Kimi Antonelli. Antonelli led the Drivers' Championship by 25 points after finishing 15th following a mechanical failure.
David Coulthard said on the Up To Speed podcast that Russell knows he got away with the result. Coulthard added that Antonelli extracts more performance from the car.
Juan Pablo Montoya urged Russell on F1 TV to adapt his driving style instead of focusing on beating Antonelli. Russell told F1 TV he was more satisfied after his Canada retirement from the lead than after standing on the Silverstone podium.
