A male Ground Self-Defense Force member has had his PTSD recognized as an on-duty illness. The recognition follows his account of harassment that began after he joined in 2006.
The member stated that several senior colleagues forced him to wear women’s clothing and to expose his lower body.
His PTSD has now been officially recognized as an illness incurred while on duty.
The case involves the GSDF, part of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces, and centers on issues of bullying and sexual harassment.
