Guardians place Martínez on injured list after foot fracture

The Cleveland Guardians received more injury news on Tuesday when outfielder Angel Martínez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot.

Additional testing confirmed the injury after Martínez continued to feel discomfort on Monday. Manager Stephen Vogt said MRI and CT scans revealed the fracture, and Martínez is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Martínez had exited Saturday's game after fouling a pitch off his foot. The switch-hitting outfielder led the team with 11 home runs entering Tuesday's series opener against Milwaukee.

Outfielder Petey Halpin was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to fill the roster spot. The Guardians also dealt with injuries to Chase DeLauter and José Ramírez in recent days.
