Hamas hands over body of another dead Israeli hostage

Hamas has handed over the body of another Israeli hostage to Israeli soldiers. This occurred amid the recently implemented ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The incident highlights ongoing tensions despite the truce.

Since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war in the Gaza Strip. On October 10, 2025, a ceasefire took effect after Israel and Hamas implemented the first phase of a 20-point plan proposed by the US government.

Yesterday at 23:17, Hamas handed over a coffin containing the body of another dead Israeli hostage to Israeli soldiers. The terrorist organization had previously announced the handover of further dead hostages and asked for patience in the return process. This is part of the ongoing negotiations under the ceasefire.

Foreign Minister Wadephul assured Germany's support to the population in Gaza and praised Turkey's role in the peace plan. He emphasized Turkey's sustained pressure on Hamas and noted that Hamas does not want to commit to disarmament. Wadephul expects continued pressure from Turkey on Hamas.

In a separate update, Donald Trump threatened Hamas with a new offensive on Thursday at 19:51. Lebanese authorities reported injuries from Israeli airstrikes at 23:31. The famine in Gaza will continue according to the World Food Programme.

Israel also handed over 30 more bodies to hospitals in Gaza. The Palestinian Authority presented a reconstruction plan. The Bundeswehr sent three soldiers to Israel.
