The Hanwha Eagles announced on Saturday that they have signed longtime minor league pitcher Jack Cushing as a temporary replacement for the injured Owen White.
Cushing, 29, agreed to a six-week contract worth US$60,000, with an additional US$30,000 available in incentives. The American right-hander was a 22nd-round pick by the Oakland Athletics in the 2019 MLB draft and has reached Triple-A in the minors, bouncing between Triple-A and Double-A over the past four seasons. In Triple-A, he holds a 14-7 record with an 8.10 ERA over 69 career games, including 15 starts.
In 2025, Cushing led the Pacific Coast League in wins with 11 victories while pitching for the Athletics' Las Vegas affiliate. He recorded 83 strikeouts against 28 walks in 79 2/3 innings.
White, who signed with the Eagles in December, tore his left hamstring while covering first base during a double play attempt in his KBO regular-season debut on Tuesday. KBO rules permit teams to sign temporary foreign player replacements on six-week contracts for injuries.
