Frank Novinec, guitarist for the hardcore metal band Hatebreed, has revealed that the group's upcoming album will arrive later this year. In a recent interview, he shared details on the recording process and the band's evolving songwriting dynamic following a key member's departure.
Frank Novinec, who joined Hatebreed as a full-time guitarist in 2006, discussed the band's new album during an interview with Hardlore, as reported by Blabbermouth. "[It’s] coming out this year, yeah. Most of it’s pretty much — I mean, it’s done," Novinec said, indicating that the project is nearly complete.
Hatebreed, hailing from Connecticut, last released new music in July with the single "Make The Demons Obey," marking their first original track in nearly five years. Novinec highlighted the advantages of modern music rollout strategies, noting the flexibility to release singles ahead of full albums. "The nice thing about the way things are rolled out now... is you can drop a single even if you have the whole record done, and... really review what you’ve done," he explained. The band received a strong positive response to the single, which they hold in high regard, and plans to share another track soon, followed by official videos.
Reflecting on his contributions, Novinec downplayed his role in songwriting, stating he has only one riff on a single track since joining. Traditionally, bassist Chris Beattie and vocalist Jamey Jasta have handled most of the music composition. However, Beattie's recent departure has shifted the process, with guitarist Wayne Lozinak now playing a larger part. Novinec described the current approach: ideas are presented collaboratively, with suggestions for tweaks like extending riffs, though he emphasized not disrupting what works.
