The upcoming HBO Harry Potter television series has announced its cast for several Hogwarts students across all four houses. The series, set to debut in 2027, features young actors portraying key characters from J.K. Rowling's books. Production involves prominent executive producers including the author herself.
The Wizarding World has revealed the actors selected to play Hogwarts students in the new HBO Original Harry Potter series. This casting news highlights roles from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin houses, focusing on Quidditch players and other notable characters from Harry's year and beyond.
In Gryffindor, Orson Matthews takes on the role of Quidditch team captain Oliver Wood, joined by Asha Soetan as Angelina Johnson, Eire Farrell as Katie Bell, and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss as Alicia Spinnet. Ethan Smith portrays Lee Jordan, the Weasley twins' best friend and Quidditch commentator.
Hufflepuff's lineup includes India Moon as Hannah Abbott, James Trevelyan Buckle as Justin Finch-Fletchley—a Muggle-born student originally destined for Eton—Cian Eagle-Service as Ernie MacMillan, and Jazmyn Lewin as Susan Bones.
For Ravenclaw, Anjula Murali plays Padma Patil, twin sister of Gryffindor student Parvati Patil. Aaron Zhao is cast as Terry Boot from Harry's year group, Scarlett Archer as Penelope Clearwater, and Eve Walls as Lisa Turpin.
Slytherin's Quidditch team features Oliver Croft as captain Marcus Flint, D’Angelou Osei-Kissiedu as Chaser Graham Montague, Dylan Heath as Chaser Adrian Pucey, Cornelius Brandreth as Seeker Terence Higgs, Eddison Burch as Keeper Miles Bletchley, James Dowell as Beater Lucian Bole, and Henry Medhurst as Beater Peregrine Derrick. Laila Barwick joins as Pansy Parkinson, a friend of Draco Malfoy.
The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod executive producing and directing multiple episodes. Other executive producers include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films. It is produced for HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. The show will debut in 2027 on HBO and stream on Max where available, including recent launches in Germany and Italy, and a confirmed launch in the UK and Ireland in late March.
