Helen Siff, a seasoned performer with a career spanning decades, died on Thursday in Los Angeles due to complications from surgery related to a prolonged and painful illness, her family announced. Born on June 2, 1937, in Woodmere, New York, Siff began her screen career in television, debuting as a waitress on the CBS series Lou Grant in 1981.
Throughout her television work, Siff appeared in a wide array of shows, including Cagney & Lacey, L.A. Law as Mrs. Brantley, Highway to Heaven, Doogie Howser, M.D., Knots Landing as Miss Fielder, Dragnet as Mrs. Wilson, Simon & Simon as Laura Duxberry, Modern Family, Ellen, Married…With Children as Leona, Sister, Sister, Mad About You, Dharma & Greg, Strong Medicine, My Name Is Earl, S.W.A.T., Mom, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Good Trouble.
In films, she portrayed a cashier in The Karate Kid (1984), Mrs. Skitzer in You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008), and a maid in Hail, Caesar! (2016).
