The Hoy No Circula program operates this Saturday, July 18, from 5:00 to 22:00 hours in Mexico City and municipalities in the State of Mexico. The measure aims to reduce air pollution in the metropolitan area.
Vehicles with hologram 1 and odd-numbered plates ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 are prohibited from circulating. Cars with hologram 2 are also restricted regardless of plate number, as are foreign vehicles.
Automobiles with hologram 00 and 0 may travel without restrictions. The Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis states that the rule applies in the 16 boroughs of CDMX and in 18 municipalities of Edomex.
Affected municipalities include Atizapán de Zaragoza, Coacalco de Berriozábal, Cuautitlán, Ecatepec, Naucalpan de Juárez and Tlalnepantla de Baz. The restriction is applied with the goal of improving air quality.
