Interpol has announced its eighth studio album, This Mirror Weighs a Ton, due for release on August 28 via Partisan Records. The band released two new songs to mark the news.
The New York band recorded the album with producer Andrew Wyatt at his Manhattan studio, marking their first sessions in the city in more than a decade. They added strings, woodwinds, acoustic guitar, and textured vocal harmonies to their sound. Guitarist Daniel Kessler contributed vocals to the track “See Out Loud,” his first since “PDA” on the 2002 debut Turn On the Bright Lights. The title track features the line “This mirror weighs a ton, but at least we act sudden.” The group will support the album with a North American tour beginning July 31 in Denver. Dates include stops in Jackson Hole, Boise, Portland, San Francisco, and Brooklyn, with support from artists including Sombr, Youth Lagoon, Loathe, and DIIV. This Mirror Weighs a Ton follows the band’s 2022 release The Other Side of Make-Believe and is their first album on Partisan.
