British tennis player Jack Draper has withdrawn from the Mubadala DC Open due to increased soreness in his serving arm. The 24-year-old shared an emotional message on social media following the last-minute decision. He was replaced in the draw by lucky loser Mackenzie McDonald.
Draper, the former British No. 1 and three-time ATP title winner, has struggled with bone bruising in his arm since the 2025 US Open. The injury has limited him to just 14 matches over the past year and caused him to miss all Grand Slams in 2026.
In his Instagram post, Draper wrote, “These last months have felt like nothing but adversity and setbacks.” He added that finding acceptance and patience with the recovery process has been his biggest challenge.
The withdrawal follows a similar pattern to his exit from Wimbledon, where he pulled out shortly before his first match. Several other players, including Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev, also withdrew from the ATP 500 event.
