The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs joined eight Jakarta schools to declare support for PP Tunas during National Children's Day. The declaration stresses child protection in digital spaces.
Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said children must be digitally skilled while balancing online life with real interactions with family and friends. She stressed that exposure to negative content can alter children's behavior even if they are not naughty.
The government delays access to high-risk social media until age 16 to prevent digital crimes such as child grooming. Meutya explained that digital platforms are given time to fix contact features and content moderation to qualify as low-risk.
The eight participating schools include SD Labschool FIP-UMJ, SMPN 208 Jakarta Timur, SMP Labschool Kebayoran, and five other public schools in Jakarta. They committed to protecting personal data and rejecting cyberbullying as a shared responsibility.
