KeNHA issues 30-day eviction notice to traders along Kisii-Ahero highway

The Kenya National Highway Authority has given traders along the Kisii-Ahero road 30 days to remove unauthorised structures. The notice, issued on May 28, targets informal businesses on the road reserve.

The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) issued the notice on Thursday, May 28. It directs all illegal roadside occupants along the Kisii-Ahero (A1) Road to vacate the road reserve within 30 days, by June 27.

The authority stated that the action is part of its ongoing road safety improvement initiative. The goal is to reduce accidents and ensure the unobstructed flow of traffic along the 85-kilometre highway.

KeNHA warned that enforcement measures will follow for those who fail to comply. The notice affects traders with informal businesses operating along sections of the route.

A similar notice was issued on May 27 for three other roads in the Rift Valley and western regions. These include the Chebarbar-Lessos-Nabkoi (B12), Mayoni-Bungoma (B139), and Chepsonoi-Kapsabet (B12) roads.
