The Kenya Urban Roads Authority has announced a four-month closure of part of Eldoret Road in Nairobi starting May 18 to build a new vehicular bridge over the Nairobi River.
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority stated on May 11 that the closure will run from 6 AM on Monday, May 18, to 6 PM on Friday, September 18. The measure will allow a contractor to construct a vehicular bridge across the Nairobi River.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes including parallel local streets in the Eastland area and connections via Ngong Road, Mbagathi Road, Lang’ata Road, and inner connector roads to reach Jogoo Road and other arterial routes. Traffic police officers and marshals will be deployed to manage flow along the affected corridor.
The project forms part of broader road beautification efforts in the capital by KURA and the Kenya National Highways Authority. Officials said the new bridge is expected to improve connectivity and cut travel delays for users once work finishes.
