Kenya launches 10-year plan to access EU market

The Kenyan government has unveiled a 10-year roadmap to help farmers, manufacturers and exporters fully access the European Union market valued at USD 21.2 trillion.

The strategy aims to fully utilise the Kenya-EU Economic Partnership Agreement which grants duty-free and quota-free access to the 27-member bloc.

Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry Lee Kinyanjui said the plan will create a resilient trading environment and unlock opportunities while prioritising product standards, customs facilitation, ICT, sanitary measures and sustainable trade.

The European Union is Kenya's largest export market, accounting for 21 per cent of exports. In 2025 Kenya exported goods worth USD 1.85 billion to the EU.

European Union Ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger called the launch a major milestone that will deliver inclusive growth for businesses on both sides.
