The Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) has urged the government to expedite work on the PM MITRA mega textile park. A team from the chamber visited the project site on Saturday to review progress. They expressed concern over delays and called for time-bound execution.
A team from the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI), led by president Sharanabasappa M. Pappa and honorary secretary Shivraj V. Inginshetty, visited the PM MITRA mega textile park site in Kalyana Karnataka on Saturday. Members of the Textile Park Horata Samiti joined the inspection.
The group noted that the state government has initiated works worth around ₹100 crore across departments. Construction of the 1.5-km entrance road has begun, and 110 metres of the 280-metre barrage across the Bhima river stand completed. "The remaining work is expected to be finished by May or June this year," Mr. Pappa told media after the visit.
KKCCI office-bearers voiced concerns over project delays. Although inaugurated on March 28, 2023, on-ground work started only recently, nearly three years later. They called the delay "unacceptable" and pressed the government to implement the project on a fast-track basis without further setbacks.
"We have been consistently pursuing the project with both the Central and State governments," Mr. Pappa said. He highlighted the park's potential to transform Kalyana Karnataka's industrial landscape by generating employment and boosting economic activity, urging authorities to accelerate all works and operationalise it soon.
