Long queues form on Ölandsbron during Midsummer

Midsummer traffic featured long queues on Ölandsbron and several serious accidents, according to Trafikverket.

On Sunday, June 21, mile-long queues formed on Ölandsbron. Traffic stood nearly still since lunchtime and the queues built up during the afternoon.

Denny Josefsson, spokesperson at Trafikverket, said the bridge is a known spot for queues during summer. He described the situation as tricky since the morning.

Two fatal accidents occurred during the weekend. The first took place on Midsummer Eve on national road 40 outside Borås and the second shortly after three o’clock on Midsummer Night outside Länna in Stockholm.

Trafikverket assesses that traffic otherwise flowed well in the rest of the country.
