Tullgarnsbron in Uppsala became stuck in the raised position on Thursday evening due to a software error. The fault caused queues and disruptions for car, boat and public transport.
The bridge became stuck around 7 p.m. According to Erik Boman, communications officer at Uppsala municipality, the issue is a software error that is being fixed. The system needs to be restarted, which may take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
The fault halted both car and boat traffic across the bridge. Pedestrians were also affected by the closure.
Public transport faced disruptions with limited service on several lines. Stops between Uppsala Rosendalsvägen and Uppsala Akademiska sjukhuset were withdrawn for the evening.
