Madonna made a surprise appearance at The Abbey in West Hollywood early on April 25, previewing new tracks from her upcoming album Confessions II. She joined producer Stuart Price in the DJ booth around 1 a.m. at the invite-only Club Confessions Los Angeles party. The event also served as a birthday celebration for venue owner Tristan Schukraft.
The Queen of Pop emerged in a pink bustier, greeting the crowd with, “Hello, children, mutha is here to save you. Are you ready to dance for me? Come on meet me on the dance floor. Alright, let’s go gays, come on! Don’t let me down, gays,” according to Variety. She previewed previously unheard songs “Love Sensation” and “Freedom,” alongside the recent single “I Feel So Free” and her 2005 hit “Hung Up.” During the set, Madonna urged partygoers, “Don’t wait. Take it. Take your freedom! Put your hands up!” and asked them to put their phones down, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. She also led a “Happy Birthday” rendition for Schukraft, playfully spanking him on stage, according to footage shared online. DJ sets came from Romy of The xx and Mez Monty, with Addison Rae hyping the crowd during “I Feel So Free” while wearing a Catwoman-style eye mask. The star-studded crowd included Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon and her boyfriend Akeem Morris, Cara Delevingne, Tom Daley, Tori Spelling, Lily Allen, Sky Ferreira, Kali Uchis, Julia Fox, Lola Young, Bebe Rexha, Jeremy Scott, Vivian Jenna Wilson, several RuPaul’s Drag Race stars like Willam and Trinity the Tuck, and TikTok creator Harry Daniels. Confessions II, due July 3 via Warner Records, follows her 2019 album Madame X and serves as a sequel to the 2005 Billboard 200 No. 1 Confessions on a Dance Floor, both produced by Stuart Price.
