Mamdani calls AIPAC monsters at rally for candidates

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani referred to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee as monsters during a rally supporting three congressional candidates.

Mamdani spoke at the event on or before June 22, 2026, for candidates Brad Lander in NY-10, Claire Valdez in NY-7, and Darializa Avila Chevalier in NY-13. He told supporters that AIPAC fears democracy running its course and an end to genocide and Netanyahu’s wars.

The mayor stated, “Now is the time of monsters. These monsters take many forms today. … AIPAC for whom the only thing more frightening than democracy being allowed to run its course is an end to genocide and Netanyahu’s wars. We need not live in fear of monsters any longer.”

A pro-Palestinian super PAC called American Priorities spent $2 million supporting the three candidates. AIPAC provided $377,000 to Rep. Dan Goldman in NY-10 and about $140,000 to Rep. Adriano Espaillat in NY-13.
