A suspect entered a Five Below store in Las Vegas on June 17 and shot an employee dead during a confrontation over an alleged relationship.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the suspect arrived at the store in the 2100 block of North Rainbow Boulevard. According to police, the suspect sought out Brandan Lucas, an employee working an afternoon shift, and a physical altercation followed.
The suspect pulled out a firearm and shot Lucas before fleeing on foot. Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound.
Family members said the shooting stemmed from a misunderstanding involving text messages between Lucas and a female co-worker who is the suspect's partner. Shekiera Wright, Lucas' cousin, stated that the exchange was taken out of context.
Police have not identified the suspect, who remains at large. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is seeking information from the public.
