Margaret Cho, Chris Parnell and John Pirruccello have joined the ensemble cast of Crohnie, the feature directorial debut from writer-director Derek Mari.
The comedy is inspired by Mari’s personal experience with Crohn’s disease. It follows a young comedian whose biggest performance is threatened by chronic illness, a flawed healthcare system and his parents’ divorce.
Mari wrote, directed and produced the film, which is based on his 2019 short of the same name. He also stars in the project.
Additional cast members include Pam Murphy, Chet Bashari Anekwe, Max Jenkins, Keith Ahlstrom and Alison Kamishiro Parsons. The film is expected to make its festival premiere next year.
