Houston Astros right-hander Mike Burrows was tagged for seven runs in a 5 2/3-inning outing during an 8-3 home loss to the Seattle Mariners on Thursday at Daikin Park. Manager Joe Espada said Burrows was one or two pitches away from a quality start.
Burrows allowed eight hits and three walks while striking out four. He surrendered a three-run homer to Luke Raley in the first inning and a two-run shot to Mitch Garver in the fourth. The performance came after Burrows had thrown seven scoreless innings in his previous start against the Cincinnati Reds on May 8.
