Livestreams from Fanatics Fest NYC have provided the first look at Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer gameplay, prompting renewed discussion among players about movement speed in the series.
The footage came from select creators who played a demo of the new Kill Block mode at the event held from 16th to 19th July. The mode features dynamically reassembling maps based on past Modern Warfare titles.
Reactions on Reddit highlighted concerns over fast sliding and momentum mechanics. One user questioned the emphasis on dramatic movement, while another noted that such features have become tiring for many players.
A Call of Duty community manager confirmed that one clip showing extended sliding was from an alpha build and will be fixed before the beta. The full game is scheduled for release on 23rd October across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2.
Players have called for a Classic mode similar to one in Black Ops 7 to offer slower movement options. A poll on the MW4 subreddit showed 303 out of 478 votes in favor of including it at launch, though a content creator at the event indicated this is unlikely.
