Brian Kiprop Kiplagat was arrested at the Namanga border on June 10, 2026, and is now held in Nairobi remand awaiting a decision on his return to London to face charges of murdering his partner Maryanne Nduta in January 2025.
The Milimani court heard Kiplagat on June 12, 2026, before Senior Magistrate Daisy Mutai. Prosecutor Joyce Olajo told the court the suspect is expected to face murder charges under UK law, which aligns with Kenyan statutes.
Kiplagat was arrested while attempting to enter Tanzania. UK police had issued an arrest warrant through Interpol and the National Police Service.
The court ordered the suspect to remain in Anti-Terrorism Police Unit custody until June 15, 2026, to allow completion of extradition arrangements to the UK.
