National Planning Directorate allocated $1.2 billion for the comprehensive property management study of the Regiotram del Norte project linking Bogotá with Zipaquirá.
National Planning Department director Natalia Irene Molina announced the measure on May 8, 2026. The study aims to speed up the start of works, with delivery scheduled for July this year.
Molina confirmed that the national government will maintain project cofinancing above 81 percent. “The Zipaquirá train is going because it is going,” the official stated.
The document will include property diagnostics, land acquisition strategies and social management guidelines for the railway corridor. The system is projected to enter operation in 2034.
The entity reiterated that Regiotram del Norte has full financial backing and is not halted despite tensions with the Bogotá mayor's office.
